I started Premier Smiles Dentistry in 2005 with a mission to provide my patients with healthy teeth and gums. The combination of advanced education and state-of-the-art equipment along with using select dental materials, allows us to offer you and your family a very high level of care that is both comfortable and affordable.

Dentures & Partials

What comes to mind when you think of dentures? Like many people, you probably imagine your grandmother’s blocky, chalky unnaturally white “false teeth.” If you’ve been told you need dentures, you might be worried about your appearance or about people noticing your dentures before anything else.

Fortunately, dental technology has advanced considerably and the days of unnatural-looking dentures and partials are long gone. Today’s dentures are specially crafted to look natural, and chances are good that most people will never know that your dentures aren’t your real teeth.

The Difference in Modern Dentures

Today, we can create dentures designed to fit the unique features of your face. From the shading and size of the teeth to the coloration of the gums, your dentures will match your own coloring and features to look completely realistic. Each tooth is crafted individually and set to allow for the variation that occurs naturally, giving your dentures a much more lifelike appearance than was possible in the past.

Your dentures will also be crafted of a more flexible material that allows them to sit comfortably and more securely to help avoid slips and that uncomfortable feeling created by loose dentures. We can even use dentures supported by dental implants. These remarkable appliances actually snap into place, eliminating any risk of slipping or sliding.

Why Choose Dentures?

Dentures have been a popular tooth replacement option for ages, and it’s not difficult to see why:

  • Dentures are often the easiest choice to fit in your budget. When you are missing many or all of your teeth, dental implants can be cost-prohibitive.
  • Most insurance companies cover dentures, reducing your out-of-pocket cost.
  • Better technology makes dentures a more attractive option than they used to be.
  • Dentures are convenient and (unless extractions are required) less invasive than other options.
  • Partials may be preferable to bridges since they don’t require alteration of existing healthy teeth.

Caring for Dentures

If you decide that dentures are right for you, it’s important that you learn to care for them properly. Dr. Devani will demonstrate the best technique and tools to care for your dentures, but keep these tips in mind:

  • Clean your dentures daily to avoid build-up of plaque or bacteria, which can lead to sores or bad breath.
  • Only use cool to lukewarm water to clean your dentures since hot water can cause them to warp.
  • If your dentures are going to be out of your mouth for an extended period of time, store them in water so they stay moist. Allowing your dentures to dry out can cause damage to the appliance.
  • If you drop your dentures, let us know right away so we can check them for damage. Not all damage to dentures is immediately visible, but any alteration of the shape of your dentures could affect the way they fit, leading to discomfort and ulcers on your gums.
